Artist Bio: "Within my body of work, I am exploring ideas of nature and the overlooked. For 10 years I have volunteered at a nature center helping take care of prairie animals such as snakes, turtles, hawks, and owls. I am also talking about themes of home, and how these animals and the prairie represent what used to be my home growing up. I hope to show a side of the United States prairie that is rarely shown. Most people view Midwestern states as flyover country, but they host unique ecosystems such as prairies and wetlands. Many Midwestern states are trying to preserve what little remains of the wetlands and prairies they have. I want to present the prairie and the animals that live there as beautiful, complex, valuable, and compelling.”
