Local Art Show: Marcella Thompson and Linda Manatt

Join us for this free event and help support your local artists! Marcella and Linda will have their art on display all weekend for you to enjoy. Art can be purchased directly from the artist at the Garden Center (cash/Venmo only please!) and 100% of the proceeds go directly to the artist. 

Artist Bio: 

Marcella Thompson and Linda Manatt met years ago in Fort Collins CO. It wasn’t long before they recognized that they were “soul sisters” with mutual interests in art, music and nature. This awareness eventually led them to form Sunshine Alley, a creative endeavor focusing on bird baths and birdhouses as well as acrylic mixed media.

The bird baths and birdhouses are all one-of-a-kind. They are comprised of various salvaged and upcycled objects gleaned through hours of exploring shops and architectural warehouses in both Colorado and Iowa. Each is a unique combination of such items as candleholders, wine racks, mailboxes, plant stands, a vast variety of bowls, and bits of architecture. Birds and people alike find them both functional and fun! 

Marcella and Linda’s mixed media pieces reflect organic and abstract themes, often incorporating some aspect of music: lyrics, instruments (including piano pieces from the Fort Collins “Pianos Around Town” project), and images of iconic singer/songwriters. The pieces are created through the use of a variety of elements including acrylics, oil pastels, inks, charcoal, various papers, metals, and natural bits of plant material.
